Course Overview

Our company HSE Training & Consultancy Ltd, formerly "Defensive Driving Training Ltd." is proud to be associated with the National Safety Council and offers its Defensive Driving Course (DDC 8/6) L.S.R. This Course is geared to teach drivers to focus to recognize hazards associated with motor vehicle collisions and traffic violations.

It sets the ground work for both young and experienced drivers to enhance their driving skills, thus preparing them to become a "defensive driver". This course's certification is accredited by the National Safety Council U.S.A. It is strongly recommended both for inexperienced drivers, as well as companies and businesses for their employees.

Course Format

The National Safety Council's (DDC 8/6) is presented in 4 to 6 hours of classroom training (theory) which utilizes:

  • Course guide
  • Video presentations
  • Case studies
  • Interactive discussions
  • Quizzes
  • Multimedia presentations

A short exam is completed before certification at the end of the training session. This new D.D.C. course, is geared specifically for countries that use the left side of the road, and also contains some local content tailor made for your training needs.

Practical Training

Practical training is also provided, but is optional. We offer "IVT Training", in-vehicle testing, where participants are assessed in traffic, main roads and a countryside driving environment. This complements the theory aspect of the training.

Benefits

Having individuals and employees exposed to Defensive Driving Training with our Company would not only provide them with the skills and techniques to keep them safe on the road, but should also result in decreased maintenance and insurance costs as well.

Insurance Benefits

A minimum of 10% discount is offered by insurance companies for drivers who present certification by N.S.C., resulting in huge savings to policy holders.

Mandatory Requirements

It is mandatory once the driver is under 25 years or have their driver's permit for less than three years. It is highly recommended for young and inexperienced drivers.

STOW Certification

These benefits mainly apply to participants who take part in these courses in Trinidad and Tobago, but as a Regional Training Centre we promote and encourage all in the Caribbean region to make maximum use of these programs.

Company Benefits

Most companies would require that drivers be exposed to this type of training before driving company vehicles. It is also accepted for stow certification.
